Cami

Dr. Hamlin is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and moved to Georgia in 2003 to live near her mother's family, the southern half of her roots. She earned her bachelors degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College in Massachusetts in the fields of Political Science, Business, and Spanish and earned her Masters of Art in Teaching Elementary Education from Brown University in Rhode Island. She completed her PhD and Specialist degrees in Educational Leadership at Mercer University. A 2008 Teacher of the Year and top five finalist for Bibb County Teacher of the Year, she is in her twenty-sixth year of education.

A veteran of the United States Army, Captain Hamlin served in the Military Police. A proponent of national and community service, Dr. Hamlin also is an alumna of Americorps. She continues to give back to her community in a variety of service initiatives, three favorites being Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society event, Jay's Hope, and collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House.

The activities Dr. Hamlin loves most are learning with children, giving back to her community, spending time with her family and friends, working on her family farm, talking about the BRAIN, reading at least a million words each year from great books, writing her memoirs, and traveling around the world to already over 45 countries. After serving almost six years as the assistant principal at Springdale Elementary, and 19 months as the principal of Porter Elementary, she is thrilled to serve as principal for the seventh school year to the Springdale Elementary School community in the 2023-2024 school year.
